View GuideDescription of Resource: This mentor guide provides mentors who advise youth apprentices or support apprenticeship programs at work with tips, guidance and resources. This guide includes four modules on the following topics: What is a Youth Apprentice and What is a Mentor; Meet your Apprentice; Teaching and Advising on the Job; Records, Regulations and Support for Mentors. The guide also includes a list of resources that mentors and employers can utilize to support the implementation of a Registered Apprenticeship program.
Note: This resource may be useful to supplement with other resources on diversity and workplace mentoring such as: Cultural and Class Conflicts in Mentor-Mentee Matches; Workplace Mentoring Supplement to the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring; and Mentoring for Enhancing Career Interests and Exploration.
Goals: To provide mentors and employers with guidance on how to best support mentees and young people participating in an apprenticeship or workplace mentoring program.
