Program Overview and Background
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County will serve youth who need us most – including those living in single parent homes, growing up in poverty, and those coping with parental incarceration – using one–on–one mentoring. The volunteer mentor will commit to spending at least 4 hours per month with the youth for at least one year. Goals for the youth are set with
program staff during an initial interview to be held with the parent and youth.
Program Services
Program staff recruit and screen adults of at least 18 years of age living in Rockland’s diverse communities who are positive adult role models, and we train them to serve as mentors. Adult volunteers, including coaches and law enforcement officers, who complete their mentor training will be matched with participants over the three years of the project.
