Description of Resource:  This on-line resource focuses on providing mentors with foundation information about opioids and factors leading to opioid use, helping mentors to learn about the issues that may be experiences by substance abuse-affected youth, and supporting mentors with development of skills to help mentees avoid misuse of substances, such as coping with stress in a healthy way and positive forms of community engagement.  This is an asynchronous, on-demand course that is designed to be engaging with real-world scenarios and research- and practice-informed content, reinforcing quizzes, and actionable strategies and skills. Downloadable tip sheets and a certificate of completion are included. The required lessons take about 1.5 hours to complete and the entire course can be completed in about 2.5 hours.

 

Goals: Help mentors build skills to become more effective in their mentoring relationships with youth impacted by substance misuse, specifically opioid misuse.
