View ResourceDescription of Resource: This resource includes key considerations and strategies for organizations to develop and implement efficient, sustainable programs. The toolkit has six modules and outlines procedures of youth mentoring implementation (inter-agency collaboration, strategic plan & theory of change, seeking funding, youth involvement in the process, social media use, and sustainability).
Note: Users of this resource should keep in mind that young persons served by youth service programs often have multi-faceted and complex needs for support (e.g., lack of stable and safe living arrangements, mental health challenges) and that mentoring is only one potential component of a comprehensive approach required to address these needs. In addition, although social media may have a useful role in services, priority must be given to ensuring safety, taking into account specific risks for harm that may be experienced by certain vulnerable populations of youth (e.g., those who have separated themselves from their families).
Goals: To support programs to cultivate the sustainability of their organization, mission, and impact
