  • Description of Resource:

    This collection of resources is intended to support community-based groups and organizations that are striving to develop and deliver quality mentoring programs to refugee, immigrant and newcomer youth. It was developed by the Alberta Mentoring Partnership for children and youth who are new to Canada, but contains resources and recommendations that may be useful to programs in other nations. The handouts in this collection range in focus from general information about practices for mentoring immigrant, refugee and newcomer youth and overcoming common challenges, to tips on specific activities and practices, like conversation and homework clubs, that can support youth with these backgrounds in targeted ways.

    Goals:

    To support programs in implementing quality mentoring programs for refugee, immigrant, and newcomer youth.

    This collection of materials from the Alberta Mentoring Partnership was developed with the support and advice of many community agencies across Alberta. Many of the materials have been adapted from Mentoring Immigrant and Refugee Youth: A Toolkit for Program Coordinators, which has also been reviewed for inclusion on the NMRC Resources for Mentoring Programs page.
