This guide provides resources and tools for program staff to best recruit, train, and support mentors over the age of 50. After exploring the benefits to recruiting mentors over the age of 50, the guide includes a series of “ready-to-use” tools, templates and training exercises aimed to build the mentoring relationships between youth and 50+ mentors. This guide acts as a supplement to MENTOR’s How to Build a Successful Mentoring Program Using the Elements of Effective PracticeTM – a toolkit that provides strategies for developing and strengthening youth mentoring programs.
Goals:
To equip program staff with resources and tools to best recruit, train, and support mentors over the age of 50.

Program staff (especially trainers and match support personnel)
