Description of Resource: This toolkit was produced by Alberta Mentoring Partnership with the support of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS)-Calgary, BBBS-Edmonton, BBBS-Innisfail, the AMP Mentor Resource Centre, Full Circle Mentoring Program in Wood Buffalo, and Resiliency Initiatives. The toolkit provides those seeking to start a community-based mentoring program with a starting point to assess the needs of their community to select the program model/design that will work best with their priority population(s) of youth.

Goals: To support development of effective community-based programs based on community’s needs.

Target Population/Eligibility or Target Sites: Individuals, groups, and organizations seeking to establish a community-based mentoring program.

This resource provides a high-level guide for creating a quality mentoring program and could be supplemented with resources focused on mentoring for specific populations. Examples include Supporting Students on the Autism Spectrum, and Guide to Mentoring Boys and Young Men of Color.
